For Care

Feeling connected and part of something bigger is an incredibly important part of personal wellbeing. It makes us feel good and gives our lives purpose. But for people living with intellectual or psychosocial disabilities, or those on the autism spectrum, feelings of isolation and loneliness can be common. That’s where For Care’s NDIS social and community participation supports come in!  We’re here to support you to build connections and social relationships, and enjoy being part of your local community.

Why is social and community participation so important?

  • It’s a mood booster. Socialising and doing fun things with others can really lift your spirits.
  • It helps you learn new skills. Trying new activities can help you build confidence and independence.
  • It can break down barriers. Spending time with people from all walks of life can help reduce stigma and create a more inclusive community.

How can we make it happen?

The For Care team is here to support you to build connections, whatever your goals or interests are. Or if you need some ideas, we’ll support you to explore options and see what kinds of activities you’d like to try. There are so many ways to get involved! Here are a few ideas:

  • Join a club or group. Whether it’s a book club, a sports team, or a community garden, there’s something for everyone. We can help you to explore local options that you’ll enjoy.
  • Volunteer your time. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and meet new people. Your For Care team can help you to find and attend regular volunteering opportunities.
  • Attend local events. Check out your local council or community centre for upcoming events, like festivals, markets, or concerts.  If you need support to attend, we can be there for you!
  • Take up a hobby. Try something new, like painting, cooking, or gardening.  Your For Care team can support you to explore ideas and gather the things you’ll need for your new creative hobby.

Working together for inclusion and wellbeing

At For Care, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy connecting with others, exploring hobbies, and participating in their community. That’s why we’re focused on supporting our clients to get involved in social and community activities.  It’s a fun and effective way to try new things, meet like-minded people, develop new skills, and boost your sense of wellbeing!
